This is a tough one ladies. I have found throughout my lifetime that while fitness is a HUGE part of loving your body- what you put in to your body is just as important- if not more important.  Nutrition is not about fad diets, pills and crazy cleanses.  However, nutrition is about eating HEALTHY foods.  I have found that there are a few rules that I like to live by when it comes to my nutrition. Here they are:

1) HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE- For me, this is a hard one because I am a teacher and I do not have the luxury of going to the bathroom whenever I have to. I notice that on weekends I am MUCH better at hydrating and I feel so much better when I am hydrated. It is wonderful for your skin and to flush out toxins. Want a kick for flushing out toxins? Add a squeeze of fresh lemon to your water.

2) PROTEIN- I do a lot of HIIT workouts and lifting in addition to my cardio. When I was younger I would crave carbs all the time. So of course I would eat them.  However, my energy from them never lasted.  Our muscles crave healthy protein.  They need it to heal after tough workouts. Also, protein helps build muscle- which helps burn fat- which is always AWESOME!  Some of my favorites: black beans, 1/2 cup plain and 1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt mixed together, all natural chicken breasts, quinoa and many more… check out more posts on protein later this month!

3) KALE- Its amazing and I love it- you will see a lot of recipes of mine that include it. Check out the link below and you will understand my obsession with this superfood!

4) Stuffed Veggies- This is a nice little trick for making sure you get your veggies everyday! Stuff your vegetables with a protein and top with a treat for a delicious and filling dinner. EXAMPLE- Bell peppers stuffed with cooked kale, turkey sausage and white beans. Topped with parmesan cheese. YUM!
